Things I'm getting used to ...
1. Being saluted when I drive on base (because I have a blue officer base decal on my car), which I don't like. I am not a Marine, please do not salute me! :)
2. Getting excited when my husband has a 13 hour work day, because that's about as short as they get at TBS
3. Waiting in ridiculously long lines at the commissary
4. Living for the weekend
5. Not planning things too far ahead (this is a hard one for my Type A personality)
6. Free health care (this one I do NOT mind, even if TriCare seems to make everything more difficult than it has to be!)
7. Not hanging too much on the walls because we're moving again soon
8. Marine Corps lingo ... as if I don't get enough of it at my job at the magazine, I have to hear it from my husband too. I feel like I am learning a foreign language.
9. Being on a completely different sleep schedule from my husband
10. Mark's growing appetite- at school, he didn't eat much, but now he eats about as much as 4 people. I feel like I am cooking for a whole family every night!
There are a lot of benefits that come with being in the military, and a lot of headaches too. I just consider myself lucky that my husband is here right now and not deployed ... that's all that really matters to me! I'm so thankful that I have a job that I love to keep me busy and my friends and family nearby, and an amazing husband with whom I spend every possible minute with! I am so proud of him for choosing a career that is meaningful rather than one that is "easy."

First Blog of my Life!
This is officially my first-ever blog... I thought it would be a worthwhile thing to have because in just a few short months, Mark and I will be moving to Pensacola, Florida where we won't know anyone except for a few of his TBS classmates! We're being spoiled right now in Stafford, VA with most of our friends and family close by. It's a nice transition into the Marine Corps life to have them around, but it's not permanent-- soon we'll really be on our own.
I'll just use this as a way to share pictures, keep friends and family updated on our lives, and let you all be a part of our journey with the Marine Corps.
Three weeks ago, I started a position as a writer/editor for Leatherneck- Magazine of the Marines, a publication of the Marine Corps Association. I absolutely love it so far, and I'm getting great experience in the publishing field.

That's it for now!
